I am reviewing a copy of Lethal Intent through Thomas Nelson-Fiction and Netgalley:

When Caroline’s over enthusiastic boss wants to enroll Bethany in experimental trials prematurely, Caroline objects, putting her at odds with her colleagues.   They want everyone to believe that the only goal of Praecursoria is to save lives.  But she fears that they have another agenda.

As laws governing foster homes start to shift, Brandon faces his own crisis.  He is on the verge of loosing the group home he has worked so hard to build.  When Caroline learns that Brandon is an investor in Praecursoria, she realizes she legally cannot confide in him.  Will the secrets she has to keep from Brandon, place a permanent wedge between them?  And will Caroline be able to save Bethany from the treatments that were designed to heal her?

If you are looking for a powerful romantic mystery, that is clean I highly recommend Lethal Intent.

I am reviewing a copy of An Old Score through BooksGoSocial and Netgalley:

Due to strong language and intense subject matter I would not recommend this book to those under the age of seventeen.

Teagan Fraser is clueless at to what she is getting herself into after taking an assignment as a live in caring for Dulcie Adams – a retired dancer from a Soho club.  Dulcie has waited for her lover Michael Pointer, to return, but she has been living in hope for a long time, and he has never come he 

 left looking after something important, which Jonah Powell and his firm want back.

It isn’t only the other to the notorious Powell firm, there are others wanting to claim what they believe is rightfully theirs and they’ll do anything to get it back. 

Teagan soon learns that a lot can happen in a period of two weeks and soon finds herself wishing she had never came involved.

If you are looking for an intriguing, fast paced mystery, I recommend an Old Score!

I am reviewing a copy of The Journalist through Independently Published and Netgalley:

Favor Bosworth is a reporter for the Baltimore Sun Paper and is investigating the murders in the Loch Raven reservoir and the Las Vegas wash feeding Lake Mead.  The girls who were murdered went to Law School at UNLV along with Dan Brock who left school early to pursue a career in investing.   Favor interviewed many of the girls classmates, but it is only a few of them that seem to have the means, opportunity, and motive for murder.

Favor has also been asked to evaluate Brock Investments for reporting false investment return.  She is assisted by two private investigators Flint Osborne and Lauren Scott.  The three are led are led around Big Bear Lake, and through Long Beach, and Orange County looking for evidence.  In the bed Favor discovers no one is who they say they are.

If you are looking for an intriguing read, that’s filled with adventure and suspense, I recommend The Journalist.

I give the Journalist four out of five stars!

Faith’s Mountain Home transports us to the Montana Territory in 1867, where we meet Laura Hannon as well as Nate Long.

Nate Long has has always watched over his identical twin brother, Aaron, even when it put him on the wrong side of the law.  After Aaron is wounded in a shootout, the brothers are taken to Settler's Fort to recover. As Nate works to make reparations for their past, he marvels at the nursing Aaron receives under the care of a woman with all the reason in the world to resent him.

Laura Hannon is no stranger to starting over, and she knows too that Nate’s newfound faith is real.   What she is unable to look past is how far he allowed himself to be led astray by his brother's weaknesses.

Just as a fledgling trust begins to grow between Nate and Laura, they stumble upon a mysterious cave in the mountains that may not be as uninhabited as it seems.  Will they find the new lives they seek for themselves include love while working together to unravel the secrets surrounding the cave, or do they have to much standing between them?

I am reviewing a copy of American Melancholy through Ecco and Netgalley:

Joyce Carol Oates is a powerful observer of the human heart, mind and soul with her profound social consciousness and is one of the insistent and inspired witnesses of a shared American history.

Oates is best known for her novels and short stories, many of these have become contemporary classics.  But Oates has always written poetry faithfully.  And this collection of American Melancholy showcases some of her finest work of the last few decades.

American Melancholy covers subjects that are both big and small.  Joyce Carol Oates had written this collection in an immediate and engaging style, and touch both the personal as well as the political.  The subjects of loss, love as well as memory are investigated, along with the upheavals of our modern age, the reality of our current predicaments, and the ravages of poverty, racism, and social unrest.  In this collection Oates masterfully writes characters ranging from a former doctor at a Chinese People’s Liberation Army hospital to Little Albert, a six-month-old infant who took part in a famous study that revealed evidence of classical conditioning in human beings.

Hand-selling books and craft beers is easy for Odessa, but making new friends and learning how to ride the subway? Well,

Things turn more sour than an IPA when the death of a fellow waitress goes viral, after it is caught on camera in the background of a couple's flash mob proposal video.  There is nothing about Bethany’s death that feels right to Odessa. Bethany’s departure mid-shift nor do the clues that only only Odessa seems to catch.  As an upcoming YouTube Star, Bethany had more than one viewer wanting to watch her fall from Grace. 

Odessa takes matters into her own hands, determined to to prove there's a killer on the loose.  But can she pin down Bethany's killer before they take Odessa offline for good?
