I am reviewing a copy of In This Moment through Bethany House Publishers and Netgalley:

I must say the second book in this series did not disappoint.

Maggie inherited her gift of time crossing from her parents and that allows her to live three different lives in 1861, 1941 and  200.  Every night she goes to sleep in one time period and wakes up in another.  But when she turns twenty one she will have to forfeit two of those lives.

In her 1861 life Maggie is the daughter of a senator at the outbreak of the Civil War, navigating a capital full of Southern spies and wounded soldiers. In 1941, she is a navy nurse, grappling with her knowledge of the future when she joins a hospital ship going to Pearl Harbor. And in 2001, she's a brilliant young medical student, fulfilling her dream of becoming a surgeon.

Although Maggie has sworn off romance until she makes her final choice, an intriguing man tugs at her heart in each era, only complicating the impossible decision she must make, which looms ever closer. With so much on the line, how can Maggie choose just one life to keep and the rest to lose?

Once again Gabrielle Meyers captivates us with another brilliant time-slip novel!

Wangari' home was in the lush, green, land of rural Kenya where the soil is perfect for planting, the trees tower into 

the sky, and the streams are full of mysterious creatures.   She spent all day playing beneath a fig tree, and at night she and her family gather around fire with her family to listen to her mother’s stories.

After Wangari grows up and goes away to school, things start changing at home.  Farmers were chopping down trees, and landslides bury the stream.  The soil becomes so overworked and dry that nothing will grow.  As a result people go hungry.  After all her studies, Dr. Wangari Maathai realizes there is a simple solution to these problems: plant a forest full of trees.

Dr. Wangari Maathai Plants a Forest is the story of environmentalist and activist Dr. Wangari Maathai, who became the first African woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. It's also a story about the importance of making your voice heard, and using that voice to protect the natural world.

I am reviewing a copy of Junko Tabei Masters the Mountain through Rebel Girls and Netgalley:

Junko is very bad at athletics!  Other students make fun of her because they think she is small and weak!  When her teacher takes the class on a trip to a mountain. It’s bigger than any Junko’s ever seen, but she is determined to make it to the top. Ganbatte, her teacher tells her. Do your best.

After Junko's first trip she becomes a Mountaineer in body as well as in Spirit.  She climbs snowy mountains, rocky mountains, and even faraway mountains outside of her home country of Japan. She joins clubs and befriends fellow climbers who love the mountains as much as she does. Then, Junko does something that’s never been done before… she becomes the first woman to climb the tallest mountain in the world.

Junko Tabei Masters the Mountains is more than the story of the story of the first woman to climb Mount Everest., it's also a story about conquering fears, personal growth and never shying away from a challenge.
