If you have a young chapter book reader who loves to read about History, they will love Prairie Anna.
Anna is the daughter of Russian Immigrants who settle in South Dakota.  The prairie life is a difficult one for Anna and her family. And when her Mother dies after givin birth to her youngest sister things become even more difficult.

Her entire life Anna has to listen to those around her telling her what to do, but she grows tired of that.  She wants to do the things she wants to do, but she soon comes to the realization that sometimes being grown up is hard.
