Book Review : The Negativity Remedy

The Negativity Remedy

Unlocking More Joy, Less Stress, and Better Relationships through Kindness

by Nicole J. Phillips

Baker Books

 Christian

Pub Date 01 Sep 2020

I am reviewing a copy of The Negativity Remedy through Baker Books and Netgalley:

The majority of us are pretty nice people, right?  But occasionally we’re tempted to indulge in gossiping, or allow anger to overcome us.  We often think if everyone around us wasn’t this way we wouldn’t be either.

Maybe the trouble isn’t with everyone that aggravates us though, perhaps the problem  is with us.  More specifically the way we react to  inconveniences, accidents, and just plain old everyday life with negative words, thoughts, and actions.  When we start responding in kind ways, that's when something remarkable happens: we actually feel happier ourselves.

This book is written with humor and devices, and ends with over 300 ideas for acts of kindness.

I give The Negativity Remedy five out of five stars!

Safety was short lived.

Kaleria’s Father, a talented musician was able to create a new life for his family.     But after the Second World War broke out a cloud of suspicion fell over the family leading to imprisonment and and years of deprivation for his family.

Kaleria managed to summon enough strength to of bomb victims, treating the never-before seen effects of radiation.  Being fluent with English Kaleria was soon recruited to work with Gen. by Lysa TerKeurst

 Harvest House Publishers

 Christian  |  Religion & Spirituality

Pub Date 01 Sep 2020

I am reviewing a copy of Is God Speaking to Me through Harvest House Publishers and Netgalley:

Have you ever questioned whether God speaks to us today.  Or are you worried about whether what you are perceiving as God’s voice is you’re own thoughts.  You are not alone in these thoughts.

In Is God Speaking to Me, Lysa Terkeust shares how she wrestled with these very thoughts, and questions.  As well as sharing with the reader how God has taught her to more clearly discern His direction in her everyday life.

This book helps you by using scripture, encouraging personal stories as well as practical application.

Stop going through the motions of life and learn how to recognize and respond to the Divine appointment the Lord has for you.

This little booklet carries a lot in a few pages, I’d recommend to anyone who has ever questioned whether or not God still speaks to us today.

The possibility of both Maggie and the baby carry the mutated gene for the horrific Huntington’s disease is a devastating possibility that shakes Maggie’s Faith to its core.   Having to face a dreadful diagnosis  Nick and Maggie seek peace as they wrestle with the heartbreaking discovery of a genetic disease versus the knowledge that God is good that he made their baby in his image.

Nick and Maggie search for answers like millions of people with genetic disorders.  With the belief that people are the dwelling place of God, and He is woven into the DNA, what should they do when that DNA has been corrupted?  Nick and Maggie end Up traveling to Poland so they can meet with top geneticist Emmanuelle Christianson, who founded and operates operates BioGenics whose mission statement is: Advancing the Human Genome.

Both understand that this decision will cost them something, but they have no choice faced with an impossible decision.   They are unaware too that the sinister side of genetic research has slithered in from the horrors of Nazi death camps into this modern-day technology.

This journey reveals more than the fight for knowledge, it uncovers the evil left over from World War 2.  A secret that puts their life in danger.

Pub Date 01 Aug 2020

I am reviewing a copy of The Black Midnight through Barbour Books and Netgalley:

In Austin Texas, three years before Jack the Ripper began his murderous spree on the streets of London, women were dying in their beds as The Midnight Assassin terrorized the streets of Austin Texas.  The first murdered occurred New Years Eve 1884.  Three years later with suspicion falling on Scotland Yard, and her Majesty’s family Queen Victoria asks her Great Granddaughter Alice Anne von Wettin, a former Pinkerton agent who worked the unsolved Austin case, to discreetly look into the London Case.

Isaiah Joplin may be enticed out of his comfortable life as an Austin lawyer., with the prospect of a second chance to work with Annie.   If Isaiah’s theories are right, they’ll  find The Midnight Assassin and in doing so they will find Jack the Ripper.  But if they are wrong he and Annie are going to find themselves in a bigger mess, than the one he found himself in when Annie left behind when she departed Austin under cover of darkness three years prior.

Will the two be able to find the truth of who is behind the murders before they are drawn into the killer’s deadly game?   The story transitions from Austin Texas, to London England the story navigates the fine line between truth and fiction as Annie and Isaiah ultimately find the hunters have become the hunted.

The Black Midnight is a powerful story, that mixes fact with fiction in a smooth and thoughtful way.
