I am reviewing a copy of Honor Bound through Revell and Netgalley:

Cynthia Myers does something that others look at as strange she seeks peace by moving to a war torn country in Africa.  But  the Medical Missionary finds it provided a way to escape a shallow life of unearned wealth, a philandering fiancĂ©, and a father now square in the public eye as vice president of the United States.  Here she knows her work and life have meaning. But all that is thrown into chaos when she fails to save the life of a local warlord's mortally wounded son.

Captain Rick Norton is a part of the Army Special Forces "A-Team" on a mission to capture and subdue the warlord.  He is compelled to use deadly force in order to save Cynthia's life.  Enraged at the violence she witnessed and riddled with guilt that men died because of her, Cynthia tries to hold on to her anger but an unwanted attraction is taking hold.

After two members of his team are badly injured and Rebels in hot pursuit Rick will have to draw upon all his strength and cunning to get her out alive . . . because he's beginning to think they just might overcome their differences and be able to make a life together.

I give Honor Bound Five out of five stars!

Book Review: Mary

Mary

Daughters of the Lost Colony #2

by Shannon McNear

Pub Date 01 Oct 2022

 Barbour Publishing,  Barbour Fiction

Christian  |  Historical Fiction  |  Romance

I am reviewing a copy of Mary: Daughters of the Lost Colony through Barbour Publishing and Netgalley:

Along the shores of the outer banks, world collide.

May: Daughters of the Lost Colony allows you to immerse yourself in the “what if” questions related to the Lost Colony of Roanoke.  What if an English boy and a native girl met in the wilderness? The push-and-pull between two very different worlds begins as one seeks simple friendship and the other struggles to trust. And can it dare they allow it to be more?

Sparks fly between Mushaniq, free-spirited daughter of Manteo, and Georgie Howe, whose father was brutally murdered by undiscovered native warriors before they’d been on Roanoac Island a full week.  As Georgie is struggling to make sense of his life and to accept that not all they call “savage” are guilty of his father’s death, Mushaniq grapples with her own questions about who Manteo has become. As tentative friendship becomes more, forged in the fire of calamity and attack upon their community, both must decide whether the One True God is indeed who He claims to be and whether He is worthy of their trust.

I give Mary, five out of five stars!

Book Review: The Unwanted

The Unwanted

by Peter Clenott

Pub Date 28 Jun 2022

Level Best Books,  Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Titles

General Fiction (Adult)  |  Historical Fiction  |  Mystery & Thrillers

I am reviewing a copy of The Unwanted through Level Best Books and Netgalley:

Hana Ziegler is a fourteen-year-old child prodigy who is being taken to the Hollenschloss Institute to be euthanized on September 1, 1939, as Hitler invades Poland and World War II begins.

Silke Hartenstein is a sixteen-year-old beauty who has graced the covers of German magazines as the blonde, blue-eyed female Aryan prototype.  Silke is a member of the Bund Deutsch Madel, but she has also laughed in the face of German Propaganda Minister Goebbels.

May of 1947, murder is committed.  The victims are an American who is helping former Nazis escape judgment and a fleeing German SS officer. While other Nazi leaders are being prosecuted, the eyes of the American military judicial system fall on Hana.

For THE UNWANTED, Fatherland, Motherland, Holy Land ultimately mean nothing. For ‘Hana the unwanted’ and ‘Silke the noble’, the only true homeland is family.

I give the Unwanted five out of five stars!
